We watched the hyena make a stealthy approach, stopping every few minutes to look around
This hyena had a narrow escape when it tried to feed on a buffalo brought down by two lion brothers earlier that day. We watched the hyena make a stealthy approach, stopping every few minutes to look around and enlisting the help of a vulture as lookout. Even so, it almost missed one of the lion brothers creeping up through the long grass to reclaim its meal. Using our vehicle as cover, the lion rushed at the hapless scavenger, which ran for its life, cackling and whooping in terror. The hyena was saved by a pool of water that slowed the furious lion, which glared in displeasure after the rapidly disappearing thief. In the meantime, the wily vulture closed in, enjoying a quick snack while the lion was otherwise occupied.
