Exclusive serengeti style on the banks of the grumeti river

&Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is set in the western corridor of Tanzania’s world-renowned Serengeti National Park on the banks of an oxbow formed by an overflow of the Grumeti River.

Boasting excellent year-round game viewing, Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp also lies in the path of the annual Great Migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra which in a typical year moves near the Camp between June and July. The Grumeti River is renowned for its gigantic crocodiles, pods of hippos and abundant birdlife, as well as the black and white colobus monkeys that inhabit the riverside thickets.

The camp consists of 10 flamboyant safari tents under makuti (palm frond) canopies with colourful interiors and tongue-in-cheek surprises. Al fresco showers are open to the sun and stars, while the calls of hippo provide a nightly serenade.

Local sculptured furnishings, Yoruba beaded artefacts and vibrant décor bring alive the excitement and romance of Africa. Intimate guest areas include open-fronted sitting and dining areas, as well as a domed bar. The spacious decks are perfect for sundowners overlooking the river and a dramatic boma ensures star-studded romantic dinners. The camp has a rim-flow pool perched on the banks of the river, where guests can view hippo at play. The Safari Shop is located at the entrance to the camp.

&Beyond -trained rangers will lead guests on twice daily interpretive game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles in the Serengeti National Park, with sunrise and sundowner stops in spectacular locations. Exhilarating hot-air ballooning over the Serengeti and Specialist Photographic Safaris can be arranged at additional cost. Delicious Pan African food is prepared on traditional jikos (fires) or in stone ovens, producing mouth watering aromas.
